My goal as a private instructor is to tailor lessons to fit the needs of each individual student. Whether your goal is to simply play for enjoyment or to pursue music professionally, my method of teaching prepares all students for confident performance through methodical preparation. Lessons focus on fundamentals—tone production (including positioning and posture), vibrato, tonguing, scales, arpeggios, études, and repertoire. I enjoy playing for (and with) each student during lessons to demonstrate the concepts we discuss. I choose to always focus on the positive, and approach difficulties as problems looking for creative solutions.
Teaching students to be the best flutists they can be is my primary goal. In addition, I strive to give my students a well-rounded appreciation of the classical arts in the hope that they will develop a life-long interest in learning and arts patronage. I am my best when sharing my love of music with others. Whether one-on-one or in a group setting I want each person I come into contact with to leave with a renewed excitement and appreciation for music!
Former students have gone on to study performance, education, and music therapy at schools including New York University, Northwestern University, The University of Alabama, the University of South Carolina, Brevard College, and East Carolina University.
